Do not confuse with the LANGENCODING attribute, which specifies that ISO 639-2 codes are used in the LANGMATERIAL attribute. EAD has no specific element to designate a textual statement about the language of the materials being described; but such information can, for example, be part of a paragraph in <scopecontent>.
