Undeveloped Camping Areas

Currently there is one primitive camping area at Granger Lake, at the end of the Comanche Bluff Hiking trail called the Fox Bottom Primitive Campground.

Fox Bottom Primitive Camping Area

Open Year Round (except during draw hunts.  See Hunting page for closure dates)

8 Campsites (sites on first-come first-served basis)

**Registration is required by calling 24 hours a day to 512/859-2668.

Name

  Dates camping
  Number of people
  Whether hiking or boating to the campgound
  Emergency contact numbers
  Description of each vehicle left at parking area
  License plate # of each vehicle left at parking area

Amenities: Each site has a designated tent pad, lantern hanger and fire pit
  Two centralized picnic tables
  A centralized double lantern pole
  A centralized fire pit
  A compost toilet
  Large group fire ring

 

**Important Information**
No potable water (You must bring your own drinking water)
Located in TPWD Wildlife Management Hunting Area. No hunting or cleaning of animals/fish within 600 feet of campground.
Cutting of trees is prohibited
Campground is located 3+ miles from the West Trailhead (CR 496)
Campground is located 4 miles by boat from Taylor Park (you must pay in advance to leave a vehicle a the boat ramp for multiple days)
Campground is located 1/2 mile downstream from Box 7 Primitive Boat Launch (small hand launched boats)
