St. Louis Chefs Participate in Taste of Elegance

Chef Chris Stroup, of the Renaissance St. Louis Hotel Airport, garnered top honors at the Taste of Elegance culinary competition held November 18 at the Renaissance Hotel Airport. His winning entrée, Pork Chop with House-Made Bacon Heirloom Apple and Sweet Potato Tarte Tatin with Missouri Goat Cheese, earned him the $1,000 prize and an invitation to compete in the national 2009 Taste of Elegance competition. He also received the People’s Choice award.

Danielle Guilliams Joins Missouri Pork Association

On August 25, Danielle Guilliams joined the Missouri Pork Association as the fall semester intern. She has worked with producers and industry professionals to promote and organize events, including the FFA Pork Speaking Contest, Lunch and Learns, and the MPA Youth Ambassador Program.

Boonville Restaurant Wins First in Missouri’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest

The Missouri Pork Association has announced the The Udder End Café in Boonville as the winner of MPA’s first annual Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest. Pop’s Place Sports Bar & Grill in St. Joseph, Mo. placed second and will receive $300. Cook’s Corner Café in Dearborn placed third and will receive $200. Three restaurants received an Honorable Mention and a check for $100: Bob’s Fishing Lake in Savannah, Ed’s Eats in Savannah, and Legend’s Sports Bar & Grill in St. Joseph.

Missouri Agriculture Working Together

On October 15, Missouri’s commodity groups came together to host a lunch and learn event to educate community leaders and businesses on the importance of animal agriculture and the pork industry to the local community. Over 30 people attended the event, held at Synergy LLC in Lamar.
