State coordinators are required to gather reliable, valid, and comprehensive information on the nature and extent of the problems of children and youth experiencing homelessness have in gaining access to public schools and elementary and secondary schools and the success of this program in allowing those children and youth to enroll, attend, and succeed in school. This provision requires States to estimate the number of children and youth experiencing homelessness including preschool-age children. These reports must be submitted to the Department every four years, beginning July 1, 2002.
