  Can a parent who owes child support and lives in a different state from the custodial parent still have their tax refund offset?
  Answer
  Yes. Regardless of where a parent who owes child support lives, if the case has been submitted to the Federal Tax Refund Offset Program prior to issuance of the tax refund, and all requirements of the program are met, his or her tax return will be offset.
