SUBJECT: OCSE DRA 2005 Child Support Distribution Training

Dear Colleague:

The Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) will be conducting three 2-day training courses on child support distribution rules under Section 457 of the Social Security Act as amended by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA). The first day provides a general overview of DRA distribution requirements and options. The second day provides an intensive, interactive, workshop-style session that offers participants a more in-depth understanding of the concepts. Please refer to the schedule of training dates below to determine which 2-day session best meets your State’s scheduling needs.

The upcoming training sessions target State IV-D agency staff members with responsibilities in fiscal policy, systems operation, and program policy. Representatives from Tribal IV-D agencies and OCSE regional offices are also welcome to participate as space allows. To ensure the highest training quality we will accommodate 20 to 25 participants per session. All trainings will be delivered on two consecutive days from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Please note that there is no cost to register and registrants will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. Additionally, OCSE funds are not available to cover participants’ travel costs. Before making travel arrangements, please wait for email confirmation of your registration. The registration deadline for all three sessions is Friday, May 9, 2008. In addition to training options listed above, OCSE is scheduled to present three consecutive distribution training workshops at the 18th National Conference scheduled for August 25th through August 27th at the Grand Hyatt in Washington D.C. The content of these workshops is based on the same curriculum as the general overview portion of the 2-day training sessions mentioned earlier. Due to limited space, we ask that interested parties sign-up for the distribution workshops at the 18th National on-site conference registration desk.
