2007 County EQIP Information

Below are links to the ranking questions established at the national, state, and local levels for determining EQIP ranking priorities. Points in the online ranking criteria (accessible only by NRCS personnel through the program contracting software called ProTracts) come from four sections: cost efficiency, local issues, state issues, and national priorities. Scores are added together resulting in a scenario where the higher the score is the better it is. Cost efficiency scores are compiled using a formula that considers the following information: lifespan of the practice, cost of a typical quantity of the practice in Montana, and the Conservation Practice Physical Effects (CPPE) on the natural resource concern that it has been selected to address (CPPE values are located in Section V of the eFOTG).

The three sections of questions are divided up as follows:

  • State issue questions have a maximum possible score of 300
  • Local issue questions have a maximum possible score of 125
  • National priority questions have a maximum possible score of 125
2007 County Funding Categories*

There are five land use funding categories that were available for the Local Working Groups (LWG) to recommend funding allocations to. These funding categories are: grazingland, dry cropland, irrigated land, forestland, and multiple land uses. Not all LWG recommendations placed funds, or ranking points, into all categories. County-level applications for EQIP assistance are only eligible for consideration if they fall into a category where the LWG placed funds. Otherwise, the application must be deferred until fiscal year 2007. For information on the ranking questions within each funding category refer to the appropriate land use funding category page through the links below (coming soon):

*The Confederated Salish-Kootenai Tribe (CSKT) and the Crow Tribe each will receive a separate allocation out of the total tribal allocation where the reservations receive their own EQIP allocation instead of competing statewide. This process is similar to the county-specific process. Therefore, the CSKT and Crow information must be found on the county information page under Flathead Reservation and Crow Reservation, respectively.
