Since 1975, The Bureau of Refugee Services has been working with the U.S. Department of State to assist refugees from other countries escape persecution and resettle in the United States. Through a wide array of services, we are able to help refugees and communities adapt to the challenges they are facing.
The State of Iowa/Bureau of Refugee Services is one of ten voluntary agencies contracted to the U.S. Department of State to resettle refugees and is the only state given this status. The Bureau is also the only state agency designated and funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide and coordinate post-resettlement services to refugees.
If you are looking for information on the types of services we provide, check out our Resettlement Services and Employment Services sections.
