Deliman is named TD for Environmental Modeling

Dr. Deliman24 Jul 2006 -- Vicksburg, Miss. -- Dr. Patrick Deliman has been selected as the Environmental Laboratory (EL) technical director (TD) for Environmental Modeling at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).

Deliman has served as the chief of EL's Environmental Engineer Branch since 2002. He previously served as principal investigator in the Water Quality and Contaminant Modeling Branch.

As TD, Deliman will serve as senior adviser to the EL director on environmental modeling-related issues affecting the laboratories' research program. He will also operate in four major technical program areas: technical program development, program execution, fiscal management and outreach marketing. Deliman will be responsible for ensuring strong technical links among environmental modeling programs are achieved within EL and ERDC, as well as with other federal and state agencies, universities and the private sector involved in environmental research.

Deliman earned a bachelor's and master's in agricultural engineering from Mississippi State University and a doctorate in agricultural engineering from Texas A&M University.

He is the recipient of two Department of the Army Special Recognition Awards for contributions to the model study of Mattawoman Creek Watershed and to the Devils Lake Study. He was awarded an ERDC Research and Development Achievement Award in 2003 and a Superior Civilian Service Award in 2004. He is a member of numerous professional societies.

The ERDC is the premier research and development facility for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) with more than 2,000 employees, $1.2 billion in facilities, and an annual research program of $700 million.  It conducts research in both military and civil works mission areas for the DoD and the nation.
