Duett selected as ITL branch chief

Patti Duett photo 23 Mar 05 -- Vicksburg, MS -- Patti Duett has been selected as chief of the Software Engineering and Evaluation Branch in the Information Technology Laboratory at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, Miss.

The ERDC is the premier research and development facility for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It consists of seven laboratories at four geographical sites, with over 2,000 employees, $1.2 billion in facilities, and an annual research program approaching $700 million. It conducts research in both military and civil works mission areas for the Department of Defense and the nation.

Duett has more than 19 years experience in software development. She has been involved in software development for numerous Corps business projects such as the Corps of Engineers Financial Management System and the Programs and Project Management Information System. She has written software development plans, software requirement specifications, technical reports and test plans.

She has been project manager on numerous initiatives, including the Common High Performance Computing Software Support Initiative; the Program Environment and Training's Online Knowledge Center; and Easy High Performance Computing (HPC), an interface developed between the desktop and HPC world to create a user-friendly environment for those unfamiliar with HPC systems. Duett has also been the technical leader for several ERDC research projects that employed the ERDC Major Shared Resource Center and HPC resources.

Duett received her bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1986, and her master's in computer science with an emphasis on software and data engineering from Mississippi State University in 1994.
