This data set represents reconnaissance geologic mapping of the
Wildcat Lake 7.5' Quadrangle, Kitsap and Mason Counties,
Washington. It is used to create the map sheet in USGS OFR
00-356 , which shows bedrock, surficial, and structural
geology of the Wildcat Lake Quadrangle.
Purpose:
Digital representation of geologic mapping facilitates the
presentation and analysis of earth-science data. Digital maps
may be displayed at any scale or projection, however, the
geologic data in this coverage is not intended for use at a larger
scale.

Native_Data_Set_Environment:
Data set was created using ESRI ARC/Info version 7.2.1 on a Unix
platform.
Data_Quality_Information:
Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
The linework was captured by hand digitizing from an unfolded
paper compilation map at 1:24,000 scale.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
This geology data set ("wildcatgeo") is a network coverage
containing arcs and polygons. Each polygon has a coded
attribute designating the mapped geologic unit. Faults,
stratigraphic contacts, and other linear features are
represented as arcs. When a fault is also a stratigraphic
contact, only a single arc is present. Dangling arcs may be
present (as faults, moraines, etc.)
Coverage 'wildcatanddks' is a point coverage containing
andesite dike orientaions.
Coverage 'wildcatbdd' is a point coverage containing bedding
attitude.
Coverage 'wildcatdikes' is a point coverage containing
basaltic dike orientations.
Completeness_Report:
These coverages were used to create the map portion of the Wildcat
geologic map. Text files, tables, graphics, topography, etc. shown
on the map sheet or pamphlet are not included.

Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
Users of this digital geologic map should respect the intentions of
the original mappers and the limitations of the map. This geologic
map compilation is intended to be used at a scale of 1:24,000;
it is not intended to be used at a more detailed scale.

Process_Step:
Process_Description:
This data was hand digitized in ARC/Info from an unfolded paper
1:24,000 scale compilation map. The arcs and polygons were
attributed. For the purposes of distribution, the coverage has
been converted to an interchange format file using the ARC/Info
export command.
Characteristics of the arc feature in coverage 'wildcatgeo'
are coded in the 'wildcatgeo.aat' file, the arc attribute
table. The .aat file consists of the item, ARC-CODE and LINETYPE.
Entity_Type_Definition_Source: This data set
Attribute:
Attribute_Label: arc-code
Attribute_Definition:
Arc-code is a positive integer value item in the arc attribute
table. Values range from 0 to 99. Arc-code describes the
stratigraphic boundary, fault, or other linear feature.

Entity_Type:
Entity_Type_Label: polygons
Entity_Type_Definition:
Characteristics of the polygon features are coded in the polygon
attribute table (.pat file). Table 'wildcatgeo.pat' includes
the following items: CLASS and ULABEL (geologic unit label).
