This issue was brought to the PRIT by a hospital reimbursement analyst. The PRIT is discussing with the appropriate OCSQ staff the possibility of expanding SMT coverage to other forms of diabetes such as diabetes caused by pancreatectomy or due to hemochromatosis.
May 28: Diabetes Self Management training is covered for all Medicare Beneficiaries who suffer from diabetes. This broadening of coverage policy is explained in Change Request 3185, linked below.
