Kentucky’s Early Childhood Quality Self Study Overview Summary (PDF)

Summary: This document presents an overview of Kentucky’s Early Childhood Quality Self Study, which was designed to address the definition and characteristics of quality across center-based settings for children (birth to five years). The Self Study will assist programs and classrooms in self-assessing and planning for continuous improvement using specific standards and indicators of quality. The Self Study focuses on five areas defining quality early childhood programming and positive outcomes for young children: (1) Program Structure and Personnel; (2) Child Experiences in the Environment; (3) Child Experiences with Curriculum and Assessment; (4) Health, Safety, and Nutrition; and (5) Program Interactions with Families and Communities.
