Aviation: From Sand Dunes to Sonic Booms was produced by the National
Park Service's National Register of Historic Places and Regional Offices,
in partnership with Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park,
United States Air Force, U.S. Centennial of Flight Commission and the
National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO).
It was created under the direction of Carol D. Shull, Keeper of the National
Register of Historic Places, National Park Service, Patrick W. Andrus,
Heritage Tourism Program Manager, and Beth L. Savage, Publications Managing
Editor. Aviation: From Sand Dunes to Sonic Booms is based on information
in the files of the National Register of Historic Places and National
Historic Landmarks collections. These materials are kept at 1201 Eye St.,
NW, Washington, D.C., and are open to the public from 9:00am to 12:00pm,
Monday through Thursday.
National Register web production team members included Jeff Joeckel,
who designed the itinerary, Rustin Quaide, and Shannon Bell (all of NCSHPO).
Property descriptions were written by Kristin Sanders, (National Council
for Preservation Education intern), Rustin Quaide, Shannon Bell, and Cari
de la Vega (also of NCSHPO). Essays were excerpted by Rustin Quiade from
essays on the U.S. Cennetennial of Flight Commission website (www.centennialofflight.gov).
Numerous photos were used courtesy of Jody Cook, NPS SE Regional Office,
NASA, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force, and we greatly appreciate their assistance.
