  • President Bush Signs ADA Amendments Act into Law
    NBDA applauds President George W. Bush for signing ADA Amendments Act into Law to guarantee broader protection for anyone who faces discrimination on the basis of disability. The Act becomes effective January 1, 2009.

  • NBDA Urges You To Prepare for A Series of Incoming Hurricanes
    Ready.gov offers three steps for you to prepare, plan, and stay informed on the series of incoming Tropical Storms and Hurricanes Hanna, Ike, and Josephine that may impact your area. Ready.gov also instructs what basic emergency supply kit items are needed in case you are advised to evacuate when the hurricane is expected to be in your area.

    The Louisiana Department of Social Services has created a newsletter for residents who took refuge from Hurricane Gustav. Currently, nine states are sheltering residents and this newsletter is a way to ensure that you have access to the most up-to-date information and important phone numbers.     Mary Lightfoot is researching on the Deaf People of Color's perspectives on the experiences and preferences with interpretation of cultural features of language. Survey questions are designed to explore specific cultural features of language, effectiveness of interpreting, and strategies for enhancing the interpreting of cultural components of language.
