The Louisville District hosted Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works John P. Woodley, Washington, D.C. aboard the J.C. Thomas for the inaugural test McAlpine "Lock Through" on Dec. 16.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District held an outreach opportunity for levee sponsor officials from Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio on Dec. 2-3 at the Sheraton Riverside Hotel, Jeffersonville, Ind.
The event was the first of its kind in the region. The activity was designed to educate and inform levee sponsors of the Corps’ levee safety program. Levee sponsors are traditionally governmental bodies comprised of local officials and engineers who oversee and operate levees and floodwalls.

Louisville, KY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has selected Bob Azinger to fill the position of lockmaster at McAlpine Lock and Dam in Louisville, Ky.
The McAlpine Locks and Dam on the Ohio River were built to provide safe transportation of commodities over the Falls of the Ohio. Approximately 20 barges pass through McAlpine each day providing economic benefits to the nation.
