No known restrictions on publication (the Library's agreement with William Barnhill expired with his death in 1987). Privacy and publicity rights may apply, however.

Access: Permitted; subject to P&P policy on serving originals.

Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Permitted subject to P&P policy on copying.

Publication and other forms of distribution: Mr. Barnhill's deed of gift did not require permission to copy material from his collection. However, in subsequent correspondence, the Library agreed to refer readers to him for permission during his lifetime. According to Photographers in North Carolina, compiled by Stephen E. Massengill (2004), Mr. Barnhill died in 1987. Privacy and publicity rights may apply.
