Salmon Creek Resources Land Exchange

The Salmon Creek resources land exchange was proposed in May 2001. The proposal was to exchange 215.85 acres of BLM in Shasta County for 566 acres of Salmon Creek Resources, Inc. land in Trinity County. In August 2004 notice was sent out to the public regarding the proposal and a 45 day comment period was initiated. One hundred comments were received as input into the Environmental Assessment. The Redding Field Manager, Steven W. Anderson signed the decision record for the exchange in April 2006 which started a 45 day protest period. Nineteen protest comments where received through this process, all of which were dismissed by the California State Director Mike Pool in October 2006. In the following month, two appeals were filed with the Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA). The IBLA affirmed the BLM’s decision to follow through with the land exchange in October 2007 and the patent was issued. See the Environmental Assessment linked below. See the IBLA decision for more information.
