      Mission Statement:

To provide comprehensive Prevention, Education, Assessments, Evaluations and Counseling Services to ensure a fit and ready force as well as a healthy community.

The Mental Health Flight has three main areas of focus: Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment (ADAPT), Family Advocacy Office (FAO) and Mental Health Clinic (MHC). ADAPT provides education, prevention, outreach, assessment and treatment for the Academy community. FAO provides prevention and education opportunities along with assessment and treatment to military families on issues of family maltreatment. The MHC staff provides mental health therapy to those who are seeking it for themselves or for people who have been referred to the center. Marital therapy is also provided.

There are various programs, classes, and services offered within these three areas. Psycho educational classes are available on topics such as couples communication, parenting, anger and stress management. Individual therapy is available through the staff of providers which include: psychiatry, psychology, social work and nursing disciplines as well as certified substance abuse counselors.

      Important messages:

To make an appointment, call (719) 333-5177/78 between duty hours of 07:30-16:30.

For a mental health emergency during duty hours, individuals will be seen on a walk-in basis. During non-duty hours, on-call providers may be reached through the Acute Care Clinic (719) 333-5000.

Family members of active duty have a choice to be seen by either a 10 MDG provider or a network civilian provider. Through TRIWEST, family members of active duty may receive mental health services through a network civilian provider (psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, marriage and family therapist) for most mental health concerns without prior authorization up to eight sessions. Sessions with a 10 MDG provider could be unlimited and require no co-pay.
