Libby Dam Visitor Center

The Libby Dam Visitor Center is located eighteen miles northeast of Libby, Montana on US Highway 37. During your visit take time to overlook Libby Dam, have a picnic, see the exhibits, or take a tour of the dam. The Libby Dam Cooperative Association gift shop and book store is also located in the Visitor Center. Take time to talk with a Park Ranger and get some more ideas on where to go and what to see during your stay.
 

Tours of the Dam

  • Drop-in tours are available at 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, and 4 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Be prepared to arrive fifteen minutes early for tour registration (requires ID if over 16 years old). Tours include a walk with a Park Ranger through the dam and powerhouse. The tour takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.


  • Community groups may schedule a tour by calling 406-293-5577 two weeks in advance. These tours include the movie ""The Power and Beauty of the Kootenai, the Story of Libby Dam"" and a walk with a Park Ranger through the dam and powerhouse. Tours are offered year-round and take approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

  • Educational institutions may schedule a tour by calling 406-293-5577 two weeks in advance. These tours include the movie ""The Power and Beauty of the Kootenai, the Story of Libby Dam"" and an in-depth tour of the dam and powerhouse. Tours are offered year-round and take approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
