Summary: This 2008 document indicates that at this time the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) is unable to draw any conclusions about the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of Breakthrough to Literacy, a literacy curriculum for preschool through third grade that introduces students to a book-a-week throughout the year. No studies of Breakthrough to Literacy fall within the scope of the Early Childhood Education review to meet WWC evidence standards. Breakthrough to Literacy also includes professional development activities for teachers to improve their classroom management skills. Contains 32 references.
