Physical Security Systems
Physical security is defined
as a system of barriers, entry and search controls, intrusion detection,
alarm assessment, and testing
and maintenance. Collectively this system, along with practices and procedures
specific to each DOE site, is intended to deter, delay, detect, assess and
appropriately respond to an unauthorized activity. Examples of these activities
include attempts to gain unauthorized access, remove or tamper with classified
matter or steal/divert special nuclear material.
