  Question
Where can I find statistics about child care, such as child care costs, number of children in child care, etc.?
  Answer
The National Child Care Information and Technical Assistance Center (NCCIC), a service of the Child Care Bureau, can help answer statistical and research questions related to child care. The Child Care Database provides data about State demographics, early care and education funding, program participation, child care licensing, and the early childhood workforce. It is available on the Web at http://nccic.acf.hhs.gov/IMS/Search.asp. You can also contact NCCIC at the following:

The fact sheet, Child Care in America, by the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), provides a snapshot of child care in the United States. This resource is available on the Web at http://www.naccrra.org/policy/docs/childcareinamericafactsheet.doc.

State-by-State Profiles of Child Care in the United States (2006), also by NACCRRA, gives demographic child care data for the 50 States. Each State profile presents information about costs, population, and supply and demand. This resource is available on the Web at http://www.naccrra.org/randd/map.php.
