System Profile Report - FY 2003

The WIC State Agency Information System Profile Report is a compilation of information on each State agency’s information system. The profiles cover topics such as system architecture; development plans; system functionality; hardware, software and communications; development and operating costs; and various technologies of interest to the WIC Program. The Profiles provide a snapshot of the system operated by each WIC State agency during fiscal year 2003. All 88 WIC State agencies submitted a profile for inclusion in this report.

The Profile information is for State agency and Food and Nutrition Service use, as well as for contractors and others interested in State WIC systems. The WIC Program relies on information system experts, i.e., programmers, analysts, and consultants, to assist in the planning, design, development and implementation of efficient systems at a reasonable cost. Thus, this compilation of State Agency Information System (IS) Profiles will provide system experts with some idea of how State agency systems differ, as well as provide a contact within the State agency for those interested in bidding on future development initiatives. State agency plans for system development, described in this document, provide an indication of which State agencies may be seeking contractor assistance over the next 5 years.

While the Profiles reflect the systems that were in existence in fiscal year 2003, we have included a map displaying the status of WIC system development as of May 2004, which provides more up-to-date information on the various stages of WIC system development nationwide. This map will be updated periodically at this website.
