What are employers committing to related to incentives for consumers?

Answer:

Employers are encouraged to develop consumer incentives that encourage and facilitate high-quality and cost-effective health care.  One important step may be for an employer to provide the option of a consumer-directed health plan with a health savings account to their employees.  This type of plan, which is growing rapidly in availability, creates demand for transparent quality and cost or price information.  Employers are also encouraged to use other strategies, such as prevention and wellness programs and care for the chronically-ill.
