Office of Nuclear Risk Reduction The Office of Nuclear Risk Reduction is working with the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency to permanently shutdown the three remaining Russian weapons-grade plutonium production reactors.
Office of Nonproliferation & International Security The Office of Nonproliferation & International Security provides policy and technical support to implement and monitor transparent weapons of mass destruction (WMD) reductions; strengthen nuclear safeguards, physical protection and export control systems in other countries; transition WMD expertise and infrastructure in partner countries to peaceful purposes; and improve international regimes, agreements and arrangements.
Office of International Material Protection and Cooperation The Office of International Material Protection and Cooperation is responsible for enhancing the security of vulnerable stockpiles of nuclear weapons and weapons-usable nuclear material in countries of concern and for improving the ability to detect the illicit trafficking of those materials.
Office of Fissile Materials Disposition The Office of Fissile Materials Disposition disposes of surplus U.S. weapon-grade plutonium and highly enriched uranium, and helps Russia to dispose of its surplus weapon-grade plutonium, by irradiating it as fuel in nuclear reactors.
Office of International Operations The Office of International Operations leads the Department’s overseas presence, supporting offices in seven countries, and manages the Nonproliferation Graduate Program and foreign travel for NNSA.
