Alpha Sites

Each alpha implementer site provides MIC with metadata records for all of its moving image materials or a focused subset of them, and submits an entry to the MIC Archive Directory.

Alpha implementer sites are actively involved in the testing, evaluation, and revision of MIC core registry elements, the metadata display and export formats and all initial MIC functionalities.

Alpha implementer sites represent a wide range of moving image archives with materials in film, video and digital formats. Taken together, the metadata schema used by the alpha sites to describe their materials represent a cross section of in-house and standard metadata schema currently in use in the archival moving image community.

Small and large collections representing different genres and target audiences were selected with a heavy initial focus on the sciences, which are underrepresented on the World Wide Web.
