News ReleaseFor Release: June 20, 2007 Alabama Hills Stewardship Public Meeting SetThe community of Lone Pine and the Bureau of Land Management’s Bishop Field Office will hold a public meeting, Wednesday, June 27, regarding management of the Alabama Hills. The meeting will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lone Pine Chamber of Commerce, 120 South Main St. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the community stewardship efforts for the Alabama Hills, said Chris Langley, Inyo County Film Commission director. In November 2006, the BLM Central California Resource Advisory Council met in Lone Pine and expressed its support for the BLM to build upon the grass roots effort of local leaders to frame a community strategy to maintain the character of the Alabama Hills. These meetings are part of a series to develop the strategy.
