Alabama Hills Stewardship Public Meeting Set

The community of Lone Pine and the Bureau of Land Management’s Bishop Field Office will hold a public meeting Tuesday regarding management of the Alabama Hills. The meeting will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.   The meeting will take place at the Lone Pine Piute – Shoshone Community Center, 975 Teya Road.

The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the evolving community stewardship strategy for the Alabama Hills, said Chris Langley, Inyo County Film Commission director.

In November, the BLM Central California Resource Advisory Council met in Lone Pine and expressed its support for the BLM to build upon the grass roots effort of local leaders to frame a community strategy to maintain the character of the Alabama Hills.  These meetings are part of a series develop the strategy.

For more information, please contact Jennings of the BLM at (760) 872-5027 or Chris Langley at (760) 937-1189.
