We have established a close working relationship among the four town selectmen, boards of health, police, EMTS, and firemen. Our local Medical Reserve Corps and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) serve as the primary volunteers. In addition, we seek to incorporate town residents as volunteers to build local capacity. At our drill we stress to our participants not only the importance of receiving the flu vaccine, but that they are aiding us in preparation for a real emergency event in which the dispersion of vaccine to a large number of people is necessary. The comfort level that we gain by all of our various town disciplines working together to form a familial relationship greatly contributes to the success of our EDS Drill and enhances the disaster preparedness plans of our towns.
