The AMIA Cataloging Committee facilitates the exchange of information through programs and publications, promotes the use of existing national standards for the cataloging of archival moving image materials, advises the appropriate standard-making bodies on cataloging standards and issues, creates new cataloging standards, provides education and information on cataloging practices, and establishes liaisons with related organizations. The Digital Initiatives Committee provides a mechanism for identifying key issues, contributing expertise, and implementing special projects that lead to recommended practices for digital concerns that impact the archival moving image and audio field.

The AMIA Cataloging and Digital Initiatives Committees contribute and review content for the Cataloging & Metadata Portal through MIC's Education and Outreach Committee.
