Enclosed for your information is a schedule of planned On-Site Reviews of National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Field Element Performance to be conducted during 2003.  These reviews will verify the effectiveness of action taken to address previously identified quality assurance issues.  The schedule provided is in response to the commitment 1.2.1 made by NNSA in the Department’s Quality Assurance Improvement Plan for Defense Nuclear Facilities transmitted to you by Secretary of Energy letter dated November 22, 2002.  Your staff will be kept informed as the dates for these reviews are established.  Four onsite reviews were conducted during 2002 and included an evaluation of the quality assurance functional area for the Sandia Site Office (then KAO), Savannah River Site Office, (then NNSA SRO), Y-12 Site Office (then YAO), and Kansas City Site Office (then KCP).  These reports were previously provided to your staff.
