American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, Electronic Media Group (EMG)
AIC, the professional association for conservators in the U.S., meets each year in June. EMG, a specialty group within AIC, offers annual programs at each AIC meeting on topics related to the preservation and conservation of machine-produced and machine-dependent cultural material, including moving image and sound materials.
Association of Moving Image Archivists
The annual AMIA conference offers opportunities for archivists and experts in moving image preservation to meet and learn from one another. Highlights on the topic of preservation include the AMIA Preservation Committee meeting as well as the Reel Thing, a program where examples of works preserved are screened and the techniques and processes employed are discussed.
The programs include technical papers, workshops, and seminars for audio professionals. Held annually in the U.S. and Europe.
FIAF. International Federation of Film Archives (Féderation Internationale des Archives du Film)
The FIAF Congress convenes annually to present programs related to film archives, including the latest research and other explorations on the topic of film preservation.
FIAT/IFTA. Fédération Internationale des Archives de Télévision/International Federation of Television Archives
FIAT/IFTA organizes annual conferences as well as workshops throughout the year and around the world addressing topics relevant to television archives.
JTS is an international meeting of specialists in audio, video, and film preservation. Under the auspices of UNESCO, a number of organizations are involved in developing the program for this event which occurs approximately every four years.
National Archives and Records Administration Annual Preservation Conference
NARA hosts a conference each year that addresses a particular topic or theme of cultural heritage preservation in general; in 2003, the program specifically targeted audio–visual archival preservation topics.
National Association of Broadcasters
The NAB regularly hosts events around the U.S. Its spring convention "delivers the most comprehensive showcase of electronic media in the world."
Society of American Archivists
The SAA annual meetings are held in late summer. While generally the programs concern the archival profession more broadly, there are often presentations on moving image preservation matters.
Southeast Asia-Pacific Audio-visual Archive Association
The meetings of SEAPAVAA serve an important function: to provide a forum for members to address issues relevant to moving image archives in the southeast-Asian region of the world.
