| 2009 Wyoming History Day at the AHC on April 20, 2009. National History Day is a year-long education program that engages students in grades 6-12 in the process of discovery and interpretation of historical topics. As individuals or in groups, students produce dramatic performances, imaginative exhibits, multi-media documentaries, research papers, and Web sites based on research related to an annual theme. The 2009 theme is The Individual in History: Actions and Legacies. These projects are then evaluated at local (district), state, and national competitions. Students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will help them manage and use information now and in the future. Public, private, and home schools are welcome to participate.This year Taco John's International, Inc., History Day Scholarship goes to Talysa Stockert of Greybull High School in Greybull, Wyoming. She was in the Senior Individual Exhibit division and the title of her entry was "Fred Hargesheimer's Fateful Fall." READ MORE on 2009 Wyoming History Day. |

The American Heritage Center, in cooperation with the Wyoming Partnership for Civic Education and the UW College of Education, and funding from the U.S. Department of Education, is preparing to introduce six CDs filled with photographs, correspondence, transcripts, and other documents related to various topics refl ected in our diverse collections. The CDs are intended for use by teachers in Wyoming and across the country.

| AHC Photo of the Month. Each month the American Heritage Center features an on-line photograph from the Center's collections. This month's photograph is part of the Seymour N. Siegel Papers, which is one of many collections related to the radio and television broadcast industry that are held at the American Heritage Center. Siegel was program director for WNYC Radio in New York City from 1934-1947 and was director of the Mutual Broadcasting System of New York from 1947-1971. |
