AIC, the professional association for conservators in the U.S., meets each year in June. EMG, a specialty group within AIC, offers annual programs at each AIC meeting on topics related to the preservation and conservation of machine-produced and machine-dependent cultural material, including moving image and sound materials.

The annual AMIA conference offers opportunities for archivists and experts in moving image preservation to meet and learn from one another. Highlights on the topic of preservation include the AMIA Preservation Committee meeting as well as the Reel Thing, a program where examples of works preserved are screened and the techniques and processes employed are discussed.

FIAT/IFTA organizes annual conferences as well as workshops throughout the year and around the world addressing topics relevant to television archives.

JTS is an international meeting of specialists in audio, video, and film preservation. Under the auspices of UNESCO, a number of organizations are involved in developing the program for this event which occurs approximately every four years.

NARA hosts a conference each year that addresses a particular topic or theme of cultural heritage preservation in general; in 2003, the program specifically targeted audio–visual archival preservation topics.
