"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-VICTORIOUS."
- Vince Lombardi

WELCOME TO ARMY PREP FENCING

USMAPS provides a sword training/competition program for the entire time a CC is here with two goals:

1. Prepare CCs to join the USMA Army Fencing Team for the next four years.
2. Expose CCs to a new sport that they can go back to later in life.

We start in July and finish at the end of April. CCs may also do other sports, but if a CC wishes to join the USMA Team, then the CC should train for the entire year.

We concentrate and compete in Epee, but we also use the basic foil for early training, and in the Spring we teach basic saber fighting. We are a United States Fencing Association Club, and we compete on the USFA Competition tour, as well as do local club Fight Nights. Our sister club, the Atlantic Fencing Club, is only minutes away at Colts Neck.

Fencing is a competitive club sport here and at USMA, and we do award letters for success in the sport. Two of our biggest events are the scrimmage vs. USMA in the Fall, and the Parents Weekend Tournament here in October.

I want to emphasize that 99% of our fencers have no prior experience. We provide all training and equipment, although you are welcome to buy your own gear at a 15% discount if you know that you wish to stay in the sport.

There are USFA clubs all over the US, and fencing is a world-wide and Olympic sport, as well as being a college and high school sport.

We usually handle 25 CCs a year through our program. We have three assistant coaches, including one of the top fencers in the nation who is competition rated.

If you have equipment, please bring it with you when you report for R Day. If you have questions, please email me.
