Textbooks chronicle historic facts and
often focus on well-known women. Diaries, journals, memoirs, reminiscences,
letters, speeches and interviews can offer a glimpse into
the private lives, thoughts, hopes, and goals of lesser-known women
providing a snapshot of life at the time.
This presentation features documents
representing 9 historical eras. Each chapter provides a brief background
of the writer, a sampling of the document, as well as links to the
full document and to related items. Additional
Resources provides links to more women's diaries and letters in the
Library of Congress.
