Career U.S. Army officer Colonel Todd Wood’s research focuses on the Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and its role in Stability and Peace Support Operations. He examines the genesis and rationale of the Brigades and analyzes its relationship to Provincial Reconstruction Teams.

Wood most recently served as Branch Chief for J5, Deputy Directorate for the Global War on Terror Strategy and Plans, Joint Staff from 2006 to 2008. While assigned to the Joint Staff he participated in the development of several strategic documents to include the National Military Strategy, National Defense Strategy and the National Implementation Plan for the War on Terror. He was also assigned to the Joint Staff, J3 Deputy Directorate for Special Operations, Detainee Operations Divisions, as an operations officer. He commanded 2nd Battalion 7th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, through two combat deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I and III. Wood has also served with the 101st Airborne Division, the 25th Infantry Division, and 2nd Armored Division. He was commissioned in 1986 through ROTC at Central Missouri State University.

He holds masters degrees in public administration from Southeast Missouri State University and a masters in military studies from the School of Advanced Military Studies at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.
