McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System
Tulsa District operates the Oklahoma part of the 440-mile navigation system which brings barge traffic to the Port of Catoosa located outside Tulsa, Oklahoma. The navigation system uses 17 locks and dams to enable vessels to make the 420-foot climb from the Mississippi River. The Little Rock District operates the navigation system through the state of Arkansas. Navigation facts from the Arkansas River Historical Society Museum. (Not part of the Corps of Engineers information system.)

Bulkhead Closure System Invented Here
Tulsa District employees have tested a new system of bulkhead closure which combines the advantages of floating bulkheads and stop logs. This system has been granted a patent. Information on the system is provided here.
