Washington created early learning and development benchmarks that include children birth to school entry.
Washington's Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Earmark:
FY 2006 : The Federal CCDF Quality Infant
and
Toddler Earmark is $1,617,003.
The funds are
used in the following ways to enhance the Washington infant
and toddler child care system (additional funds may be used
to support these activities):
- To continue funding local public health jurisdictions to provide Child Care Health Consultation (nurse consultants through Healthy Child Care Washington) for infants and toddlers.
- On-going training and technical assistance to child care nurse consultants (through Healthy Child Care Washington).
- Development and delivery of training focused on infant/toddler caregiving and/or technical assistance for providers through contracts.
FY 2004:

Toddler Earmark was $1,671,138.
The funds were
used in the following ways to enhance the Washington infant
and toddler child care system (additional funds may have been used
to support these activities):

To continue funding local public health jurisdictions to provide Child Care Health Consultation for infants and toddlers.

Healthy Child Care Washington , which provides training, technical assistance and consultations to promote health and safety for infants and toddlers through a collaborative effort with local entities involved.

Continuing support for awareness of infant and child brain development , and the dissemination of information through the BrainNet website and publications.
- Infant Bonus that grants licensed/certified providers a one-time bonus of $250 when they accept an infant into their care.
