Kentucky's Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Earmark:


FY 2006 : The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Earmark is $1,736,595.

The funds are used in the following ways to enhance the Kentucky infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may be used to support these activities):

  • STARS Quality Coordinators , who function in part as Infant/Toddler Specialists, to serve providers and programs participating in STARS for KIDS NOW (voluntary quality rating system). These Coordinators also work with other CCR&R staff to expand and enhance infant toddler training opportunities offered through CCR&R agencies for those not participating in the STARS program.
  • Home and Center Visits that provide technical assistance to programs.
  • To provide local CCR&Rs with the option of developing or purchasing consumer education materials to help parents make informed choices for quality care options.

FY 2004: The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Earmark was $1,708,025.

The funds were used in the following ways to enhance the Kentucky infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may have been used to support these activities):

  • Eighteen (18) Infant and Toddler Specialists, employed by the Child Care Resource & Referral agencies. These Specialists will work with other CCR&R staff to expand and enhance infant toddler training.
  • Home and Center Visits that provide technical assistance to programs.
  • To provide local CCR&Rs with the option of purchasing first aid or CPR training for registered or certified providers.
  • To provide local CCR&Rs with the option of developing or purchasing consumer education materials to help parents make informed choices for quality care options.
