Summary of Kansas' Work as Part of the Initiative (2003-2004):
Kansas engaged pediatricians in a campaign to increase awareness of the importance of quality care for infants and toddlers and implemented a pilot in clinics serving low-income parents.
Kansas's Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Earmark:
FY 2006:
The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Earmark is $922,380.
The funds are used in the following ways to enhance the Kansas infant and toddler child care system (additional funds were used to support these activities):
- Kansas Early Head Start Program.
- Continued support of the Kansas Infant/Toddler Initiative , which placed Infant/Toddler Specialists in all 16 Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies across Kansas to provide support to child care providers who care for infants and toddlers.
- Infant Mental Health Conferences throughout the State, convened by nine (9) communities through an Infant/Toddler Committee and a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
FY 2004:
