CSDR's new girls basketball coach showing signs

Hoping to fill his vacant girls basketball head coaching position at California School for the Deaf, Riverside, David Hamilton, the school's first-year athletic director, posted the job on a Web site and awaited the responses.

Of the few candidates Hamilton considered, none intrigued him more than the man who walked into his office unannounced one day.

FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATES


2008 Player of the Year

Taylor Martinez is the HSGameTime Player of the Year in football. The senior quarterback led Corona Centennial to an undefeated season, the CIF-Southern Section Inland Division championship and the CIF Division 1 state title. Martinez capped off his season with a superb effort in the Huskies' 21-16 victory over Concord De La Salle in the Division 1 state bowl.

DIVISION I STATE BOWL

Huskies' triumphant return

Corona Centennial overcame a rough beginning and avenged last year's season-ending loss, defeating Concord De La Salle, 21-16, Friday in the CIF-State Division 1 Bowl Championship at Home Depot Center. Centennial (15-0) finished undefeated for the first time in the program's history and became the first football team from the Inland Southern California area to bring home a state championship.
