James Bunch received a B.S. degree in Agronomy from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1979. In 1994 he received a M.S. degree in Agronomy from Alcorn State University. After graduating in the spring of 1979, he began his career with the Soil Conservation Service at McGhee, AR as a soil conservationist and served in several locations throughout the state before accepting a position at Lorman, MS to serve as the Liaison to the NRCS funded Alcorn State University Cropping (ā€œCā€) Factor Project from 1991 -1994. In the winter of 1994, he joined the NRCS, National Plant Data Center as staff Agronomist. Here he initiated two tropical crop studies in the Pac Basin. In the spring of 1999, he accepted the position of Regional Technology Specialist for the South Central Region. His primary duty was the coordination of all technology issues/concerns within the South Central Region states. Currently he serves as a Natural Resources Specialist on the CNTSC staff.
