DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER
DCL-06-09
ATTACHMENT: Medical Support Collaboration Meetings Summary June - August 2005 (10M Adobe PDF)
DATE: March 3, 2006
TO: ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS
RE: Medical Support Collaboration Meetings Summary
Dear Colleague:
In 2005, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) hosted a series of five regional meetings attended by Medicaid, State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), Child Support Enforcement, and Child Welfare State directors to collaborate on increasing medical support for children and Medicaid cost savings. At the conclusion of these meetings, each State and Federal office developed a plan of action to address the identified issues. Some of the States’ plans were detailed, including specific timeframes for establishing advisory committees composed of directors, fiscal officers, and information technology staff. Federal regional offices are working with the States to implement their action plans. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and ACF are committed to investigating issues that might require action at the Federal level.
Enclosed is the summary of the meetings. It includes both the State and Federal action plans in addition to summaries of the five regional meetings.
Sincerely,
Margot Bean
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
