Grants to Strengthen Child Support Awarded

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) has awarded nearly $1.14 million in grants to 12 grantees including: 8 child support agencies, a Tribe, a State court, a local prosecutor's office and a nonprofit organization. The goal is to advance the performance of the nation's child support enforcement system.

ACF Awards Grants to Strengthen Child Support

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today announced grants totaling $696,000 to six state child support enforcement agencies for demonstration and research purposes.

"These grants are aimed at testing new approaches to strengthen the child support system," said Wade F. Horn, Ph.D., HHS assistant secretary for children and families. "The goal of this funding is to make child support payments a more dependable source of income for families."

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today announced nearly $800,000 in grants to non-profit organizations and a local agency to advance the performance of the nation's child support enforcement system.

"These grants are aimed at improving the financial stability of children and their parents by improving the child support enforcement system," said HHS Assistant Secretary for Children and Families Wade F. Horn, Ph.D. "They highlight the importance of healthy parental relationships and helping noncustodial parents, when needed, in meeting their child support obligations."

Assistant Secretary for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Wade F. Horn, Ph.D., today announced $990,000 in federal funding for a demonstration project in the state of Ohio to promote improvements in child support enforcement efforts. The project will take place in Clark County.

Child Support Enforcement Head Named

HHS Assistant Secretary for Children and Families Wade F. Horn, Ph.D., announced last week that Secretary Mike Leavitt has appointed Margot Bean as the head of the Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE). Currently in charge of the child support enforcement division of the New York state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Bean begins service in the Bush Administration on July 25.
