Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre
Initiative for the preservation and cataloging of primary source
materials related to Australian science and technology. The website
includes guides
to the collections;
Bright Sparcs,
a free online biographical database of notable Australian scientists
and
engineers; an online edition of the bicentennial history Technology
in Australia: 1788-1988;
and many other resources. Sponsored by the University

Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation
(CSIRO)
Australia’s principal body for the promotion and dissemination
of scientific research, functioning much like a national academy
of sciences. The website includes basic information about CSIRO,
its activities, and its many divisions. CSIRO is a prolific publisher,
but relatively few of its diverse publications are freely available
online; these are mostly divisional newsletters and information
sheets. Information about CSIRO publications for purchase may be
found on the CSIRO Publishing site;
these include both print and digital publications, which can be
ordered online. Images from CSIRO’s large collections can
also be searched and ordered for purchase via the ScienceImage site. |
Science Portal (Australian Government)
Entry point for information about Australian science, browseable
by research
field and purpose
of research,
or searchable by keyword. Includes lists of links to research
institutes,
research
services,
and much additional information. |
