Dear Mr. Chairman:
The purpose of this letter is to forward to
you Revision 2 to the Savannah River Site
High Level Waste Tank In-Service Inspection Program.� This revised document incorporates the revised schedule to
inspect all of the Type III/IIIA waste tanks by the end of 2007.� Additionally, reporting criteria has been
referenced for the inspection of the secondary containment.� A copy of the revised plan has been provided
to your staff.� The Department remains
committed to adjusting the inspection program as necessary should inspection
results indicate the existence of, or potential for, accelerated degradation in
the Type III/IIIA waste tanks at Savannah River.
