Culture : Colombia

This pathfinder includes information about electronic resources on Colombian culture. It is divided into the following sections: General Reference | Organizations & Institutions| Book and Reading Promotion | Cinema | Folk Culture | Museums | Music & Performing Arts | Visual Arts For materials at the Library of Congress, consult its online catalog (http://catalog.loc.gov) and the Web pages for the following reading rooms: Hispanic Reading Room, Performing Arts Reading Room, Motion Picture & Television Reading Room, and American Folklife Center. The most important source for bibliography of books and articles concerning Colombia is the annual Handbook of Latin American Studies (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas/) produced by over 130 contributing editors under the editorship of the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. Additional coverage of journal articles can be found through a subscription to the Hispanic American Periodical Index (http://hapi.gseis.ucla.edu/).   Both the Handbook and HAPI are available in selected libraries in book form.  One of the major aggregators for links to a wide variety of subjects relating to Colombia is the University of Texas' LANIC (http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/colombia/). The wealth of published books available on this subject exceeds the offerings of the online materials on the World Wide Web. Libraries, and in particular The Library of Congress Online Catalog, offers a wide bibliography of such published works on various subjects. One need only search the appropriate Library of Congress Subject Heading with the relevant country.
