The nursing homes that are shown on Nursing Home Compare:

• Are certified to participate in Medicare and/or Medicaid.
• Provide a level of care called "skilled" care (care given when you need skilled nursing or rehabilitation staff to manage, observe, or evaluate your care). Examples of skilled care include intravenous (IV) injections and physical therapy.

There may be nursing homes that aren't included on Nursing Home Compare that give other levels of health care & skilled nursing services. These nursing homes aren't certified to participate in Medicare or Medicaid, but can be licensed by the state.
